Challenge Types
The type of challenges that you have access to depends on your subscription. If you'd like access to a challenge type that you don't currently have, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager for more information!
- Movement/Map Challenges
The goal of a Movement Challenge is to encourage members to be physically active. These challenges track steps and have an "orange shoe" icon that indicates that it is a movement challenge.
These challenges contain a theme and a virtual map route that guides members from one milestone to the next, which provide information based on the map theme.
When active, there will be a pacer bunny on the map route which keeps up with the daily step goal. This helps give members a visual representation of progress towards the overall challenge step goal.
Chart Challenge
These challenges also track steps. If a virtual map and themed milestone content isn't wanted/needed, there is the option to do a Chart-based Movement Challenge. This is the same setup and function of a movement challenge, however, there is no virtual map or themed content included, only a leaderboard.
- Wellness Challenges
The goal of a wellness challenge is to track different aspects of wellness, so that members can begin to understand the relationship between those behaviors. These challenges track wellness points and have an "green head" icon that indicates that it is a wellness challenge.
Wellness challenges work on a "wellness points" basis, where you can learn more about here. Members can log the following metrics: nutrition, water, mood, sleep, heart, mindfulness, weight, journal entries and photo entries, and steps. Each wellness challenge includes metrics that apply to the challenge's theme (click here to see all wellness challenge themes). To gain points and complete the challenge, the member must log (daily) the metrics that are included in the specific challenge. If they log enough metrics to reach the challenge goal, they will complete the challenge.
There are 7 prebuilt Wellness Challenges and all run for exactly 42 days (6 weeks). This is not editable.
Admins can't see what the member entered for the metric, only that a member made an entry. The point of a wellness challenge isn't to shame or judge a member because of their entry, it is to allow members to see their habits over time, and make small, incremental changes in their behavior.
Custom Wellness Challenge
If you would like to use a combination of wellness metrics that aren't offered in a pre-made wellness challenge, or if you prefer a different timeframe (other than 42 days), create a custom wellness challenge. If running just a hydration challenge for a week in the summer is something that intrigues members, this is how you'd set it up:
From the Admin Panel > Challenges tab > select Create a Challenge Template, give it a name, image, description, and then select your desired wellness metrics. You're not able to change the point amount for any metric.
We recommend that you assemble all information before creation, review for edits, and then use the template creator for your final edition. You're not able to delete this template once created. If you need it to be deleted, please reach out to success@terryberry.com.
- Preventative Care Challenges
These challenges don't track points or steps, but rather whether or not the member completed them. To complete the challenge, a member must select that they completed it, enter a date that they completed their appointment, and then can add an optional "note". The goal of a Preventative Challenge is to push members to be proactive in their own health check-ups.
These "Challenges" are created and act as a reminder for people to get preventative care appointments set up throughout the year. There are 6 Preventative Challenges to choose from:
- Physical Exam
- Vision Exam
- Dental Visit
- Mental Health
- Flu Shot
- Covid Booster
We encourage you to set these up to run for the entire year. For instance, if your company's health insurance covers two dental cleanings per year, this is a great opportunity to list it twice and set the dates for the first 6 months and the second 6 months.
Many companies like to take advantage of these and create them for January 1st and have them run through December 31st, with an incentive at the end of the year for completing them all.
